1978/ 79 SOHC Weslake Comet “Nigel” Nigel was found by our Son Chad, in Santa Clarita, California (where he lives). Oddly enough, only a ˝ mile from his home. It was owned then by Steve Green, who also had another Weslake , a Mk4. Both bikes had been owned and raced in England and in the U.S. by Lance King. The bikes were sitting in the corner of Steve’s shop covered up and gathering dust. We bought the SOHC Weslake and Chad bought the Mk4. The Comet frame is made in York, England by Gordon May. The twin top tube frame features a sliding top clamp which can adjust the stiffness of the frame. I restored this bike and painted it in the Union Jack colors. There were 206 of these engines manufactured by Weslake according to Mr. Perry of Antig (who bought out Weslake) some years ago. |
