1971 Jawa 890 2-valve  “Mikey”

This 1971 Jawa came to us as a semi-complete “basket case”. It was in terrible condition.

The bike was found in Pasadena, California. It had been raced in southern California by Mike Bast in 1971.

I restored this bike with special interest since Mike, Steve and their Father Homer and Uncle Harlan have been friends of mine since 1970.

During the restoration, I was in need of a Carburetor for the bike, and Harlan was kind enough to provide me with one that they would have used at that time.

I painted the bike in tribute to Mike and his 7 National Speedway Championships.

This machine is one of our favorites.
