1973/74 Jawa DT500 Model 890 (Jawa 2)

This is the second Jawa we purchased, oddly enough, only two weeks after the first one. This bike was in Oakhurst, California. It had at one time been in the inventory at F.R. Miller’s Dealership in Northern California. As I understand it, when Mr. Miller closed his dealership, he still attended Speedway meetings selling parts and supplies. This particular bike had been a “Donor Bike” for some needy Speedway Rider and was missing several parts, but still new.

Several years later, Mr Donn Donnelly had been hired by F.R.’s Son to assemble some of the bikes from parts that had been in storage for several years after Mr. Miller’s passing.

Once assembled, Mr. Donnelly was to sell the bikes one by one. We bought the first one that Donn put together which is now known as “Jawa 2”.

This bike has also never been raced, and was among the later production Jawa 2-valve machines
